ACTING! (An Intro)! w/ Monika Schneider

Mile End Improv is excited to present our first ever acting class at VME with MONIKA SCHNEIDER'S ACTING! (An Intro)!

Acting does not come from the brain at all. We want to shove the brain out and immerse ourselves completely in the atmosphere, the moment. This is the foundation of acting; it’s all about what is going on in the gut. - Peter Wylde

The focus of this introductory class will be on:

- active listening

- authentic, instinctual and honest reactions

- understanding character needs through exploring the given circumstances

- compelling and truthful performances

- staying present and connected to partners

Besides work on foundational skills such as voice & diction, improvisation, and emotional range, the class will also explore concepts and exercises (including Meisner & Stanislavski) as well as scene work.

Classes will entail chat & warm-up, acting and improv games & exercises and text work, when applicable.

Students must be willing to memorize lines, meet outside of class time to practice their scene with their scene partner, as well as perform in front of an audience.
