Story Everywhere w/ Brent Skagford

STORY EVERYWHERE is an attempt to reimagine how we think about and perform narrative improv. The approach is based on the belief that, like the title suggests, story is everywhere. Every moment on stage, every gesture, every interaction, is ripe with story potential.

We also believe that you do not need to study story structure or genre to create compelling improvised narratives. Theory like that is all well and good, but if you’re spending your time on stage thinking about structure or genre, you’re probably missing the myriad story potentialities happening right in front of you.

Human beings are hard-wired for stories, it’s how we make sense of the world and how we create meaning in our lives- and we certainly don’t need any theory to do that. Telling stories is not so much a skill as an instinct. We want to see if we can tap into this instinct to create big, bold, captivating narratives in the moment.

Brent Skagford is a Montreal-based actor, writer, and improviser. He has been performing and teaching across North America and Europe for the past 15 years as one-half of the improv duo Easy Action. earn the delicate art of creating longer stories from the masters of the craft! This class will focus on linking together sets of scenes to create a cohesive tale.
