FOUNDATIONS: Improv From The Ground Up
Interested in performance? Comedy? Flying by the seat of your pants, without the pressure of having to remember lines? Okay, it's settled: you're DESTINED to learn improv. In this four week beginner's course and with the guidance and encouragement of our tenured instructors, we'll focus on the core fundamentals that bring improv to life, in a dynamic way. Whether your goal is to get on stage, challenge yourself or try something new because you just moved here from a small town in Alberta, we've got you covered.
SCHEDULE: Wednesdays, 7:00pm-9:00pm / September 9, 16, 23 and 30
MAXIMUM PARTICIPANTS: 14
PREREQUISITES: None! Additionally, if you have participated in a handful of our Weekly Workshop offerings, this is an ideal place to learn the core values. Perfect for people trying improv for the first time, or close to the first time.
ABOUT THE TEACHER:
James McGee is a Montreal-based actor, performer and instructor.
As a teacher, James has been leading improv classes for beginners since 2013 and has led workshops and team building events for a variety of performance schools, organizations and community groups since 2013, which include Coca-Cola, Pfizer, Canada Life, David's Tea, Joseph Ribkoff, among others.
He has also worked with academic institutions throughout Montreal, namely McGill University and Concordia University.
As a performer, James has appeared in a number of festivals, most notably OFF-JFL, Montreal Sketchfest, SOLOS Festival, POP! Montreal and the Montreal Fringe Festival, where he was the recipient of two awards in 2018.

Once you register, you will wait to receive an INVOICE. Once you receive the invoice you will have 24 hours to make your payment to secure your spot.

We cannot accept credit cards or cheques, if you’d like to pay by cash, please let us know and we will arrange an appointment.
Mile End Improv is a safe space. Absolutely no abusive behaviour of any kind will be tolerated.
This is a commitment, and we expect those who register to attend the classes they’ve signed up for. Please be considerate; missing a class will affect the other participants and the delivery of the class material for everyone. There are no refunds or credits for missed classes.
Unfortunately, the studios are located on the second floor of the building.
Being a student at Mile End Improv allows you to attend the Every Thursday Improv Show for free during the weeks you are taking classes (if space allows!)
