CHARACTER SUMMER INTENSIVE with Andy Assaf

Create, write, and perform original comedy characters!

Across two 4-hour workshops (August 16 + 17), Andy will teach the improv and sketch-writing techniques he uses to quickly generate memorable solo character ideas, sharpen them into strong comedic pieces, and get them ready for the stage. 

This class is designed for performers who want to generate ideas more freely, strengthen their joke writing, and bring characters to life in improv scenes without getting stuck in overthinking. Whether you're building a solo show, creating material for character showcases, or trying character comedy for the first time, you'll leave the weekend with a finished piece and a repeatable creative process.

REQUIREMENTS: Some improv experience helpful, but beginners are welcome

Mile End Improv is a safe space. Absolutely no abusive behaviour of any kind will be tolerated.

This is a commitment, and we expect those who register to attend the classes they’ve signed up for. Please be considerate; missing a class will affect the other participants and the delivery of the class material for everyone. There are no refunds or credits for missed classes.

Unfortunately, the studios are located on the second floor of the building.

Being a student at Mile End Improv allows you to attend the Every Thursday Improv Show for free during the weeks you are taking classes (if space allows!)
